SoundSeal Technology
While not as quiet as the InSinkErator Evolution Essential, the Compact still features SoundSeal Technology to deliver a much quieter performance than the average garbage disposal. It is housed in some insulation and has an anti-vibration mount, anti-vibration tailpipe mount, and quiet collar sink baffle that don’t allow any vibration to transmit sound.

Easy Installation
If you are replacing an InSinkErator Badger with the InSinkErator Evolution Compact, it will be a piece of cake to install since the Compact is intended as an upgrade to the Badger. Most people like the Badger because of its size but now with the Compact, you can have power too. If you are installing this as a new unit, it’s just as easy. The instructions cover the steps well which makes it easy for people without prior plumbing experience. However, if you are replacing from another brand, you might have to do some extra work to refit the disposer. Also, the unit doesn’t come with a power cord so if you don’t have one from an old InSinkErator, you’ll need to purchase one unless you are hard wiring the disposal.
40% Quieter
If you are familiar with InSinkErator garbage disposals you will know that the company makes two main lines: Evolution and Badger. The Badger series focuses on affordability so it is very basic. They don’t do anything to to dampen the noise level. The Evolution series, on the contrary, features SoundSeal technology to insulate the noise level. Though not as whisper quiet as the quietest InSinkErator Evolution Excel, the Compact is 40% quieter than the Badger series. One customer said it was at least 80% quieter than a model he purchased 20 years ago. Should you buy the InSinkErator Evolution Compact?
We think the InSinkErator Evolution Compact is the perfect choice for those who want to upgrade from a InSinkErator Badger. After all, the Compact was designed for people who want the compact size of a Badger and the power of the Evolution series. It was made so you don’t have to re-fit the garbage disposal when doing the upgrade, so installation is easy. But since it’s a great product, it’s a great choice for anyone really, especially if these features are important to you: 3/4 horsepower motor (we don’t recommend getting anything less than 3/4), compact chamber for more kitchen cabinet space, easy installation, and quiet operation.
I currently have a Sinkmaster Bonecrusher model 850 disposal. Can it be easily replaced with the Insinkerator Evolution Compact disposal?
When replacing a garbage disposal, especially with a different brand, you may need to perform some extra adjustments like replacing the mount. If unsure, you can always call a handyman and they should be able to do it for you for about $50.
