Among all the InSinkErator garbage disposals, the bestseller is the Evolution Essential. It checks a lot of the buyer’s boxes in what they look for in a garbage disposal, making it a popular choice for a wide range of kitchens.

The InSinkErator Evolution Essential has the following features:

  • Two stages of grind allowing you to insert problematic food scraps such as artichokes and rib bones.
  • One of the quietest noise levels when in operation.
  • Vibration-free when in operation.
  • 3/4 horsepower motor.
  • 40-oz. capacity chamber that is made of stainless steel for added durability.
  • 6-year in-home limited warranty. For the entire warranty period, you will receive free house calls (including parts and labor) when your InSinkErator needs to be installed, repaired, or replaced. InSinkErator boasts a network of 1500 professionally trained service agents.
  • A sink mount that allows for easy installation and replacement.
  • Wall switch activation making it easy to operate.
  • Made in the USA.

SoundSeal Technology

The InSinkErator Evolution Essential is so quiet because its 3/4 horsepower motor is housed in some insulation and its connection to the sink and pipes are constructed in a way that doesn’t allow any vibration to transmit sound. A sink baffle also ensures that any sound stays underneath the kitchen sink.

MultiGrind Technology

This InSinkErator garbage disposal has two “layers” of grind so that you can worry less about what can and cannot be inserted, as well as ensure there are less clogs and jams to deal with. You can grind the tough foods: celery, potato peels, small bones, apple cores, and fruit pits. However, no matter how tough your machine, “the rule” still applies: do not grind large amounts at once and always run the disposer with cold water.

InSinkErator Evolution Essential Customer Reviews

To find out how well the InSinkErator Evolution Essential actually works, we went through hundreds of customer reviews. This is a summary of those reviews. It will give you a full picture of what to expect when you purchase the Evolution Essential garbage disposal.

Simple Installation

Most people found the InSinkErator Evolution Essential easy to install. They said it should take about 1 hour to install even for those who have never done any plumbing work before. Some even mentioned it took less time because they were replacing an older InSinkErator unit and everything attaches in the same position. That said, if you are replacing from another brand, you might have to do some extra work to refit the disposer. Also, the unit doesn’t come with a power cord so if you don’t have one from an old InSinkErator, you’ll need to purchase one unless you are hard wiring the disposal.

Plenty Quiet

If you are familiar with InSinkErator garbage disposals you will know that the company makes two main lines: Evolution and Badger. The Badger series focuses on affordability so it is very basic. They don’t do anything to to dampen the noise level. The Evolution series, on the contrary, features SoundSeal technology to insulate the noise level. Though not as whisper quiet as the quietest InSinkErator Evolution Excel, the Essential is still plenty quiet. On top of that, the anti-vibration mount does in fact reduce the noise level even further. The garbage disposal is not allowed to rattle the countertops. It is so quiet that when you turn it on, you won’t even be able to tell that it’s working unless you listen hard.

Grinds Fast

Besides being much quieter than the Badger disposals, the Evolution Essential is also a better grinder. Customers were impressed to see food gone within 1 or 2 seconds. While the Badger series had problems grinding lemon peels for some customers, the Evolution Essential ate it up in 1 second – and quietly. The chamber holds 40 oz. for the Essential while the chamber in the Badger holds 26 oz. It gives you more working space to grind food. But of course, a 40-oz garbage disposal will take some space in your cabinet so if you have a small kitchen, we recommend taking a look at the InSinkErator Evolution Compact which is a comparable alternative.

Overall Summary

The InSinkErator Evolution Essential garbage disposal is right for just about any kitchen because of its power and noise reducing technology.

Should you buy the InSinkErator Evolution Essential?

We know how annoying it is to research and install a new garbage disposal, but believe us, if you pick up the InSinkErator Evolution Essential you won’t be disappointed. It’s a great product. It has all the features you would want and it works well. Again, it features a 3/4 horsepower motor (we don’t recommend getting anything less than 3/4) that grinds almost anything, a good size chamber, easy installation, and ultra quiet operation. To top things off, it’s sold at a reasonable price on Amazon. We can see why it’s a bestseller.
