Magnetic “Cover Start”
Inside the InSinkErator Evolution Cover Control Plus, there’s a built-in switch that works with the magnetic stopper to turn on the disposer when it’s inserted and turned. The magnetic stopper itself is an on and off switch, so there’s no need for a wall switch. When the stopper is inserted, it doesn’t allow any foreign object to fall in while it’s operating. To use the Cover Control, run a stream of cold water, insert the food waste, insert the stopper, and turn.

Should you buy the InSinkErator Evolution Cover Control Plus?
The InSinkErator Evolution Cover Control Plus is a great quality batch feed garbage disposal. It’s powerful and it’s the quietest batch feed garbage disposal on the market. There are some nice touches consistent with all InSinkErator Evolution garbage disposals, such as dampeners to lessen vibration and noise. This is a great disposer if you’re looking for a batch feed system. If you would rather have a continuous feed garbage disposal, then a good alternative is the InSinkErator Evolution Excel, which packs a 1.0 horsepower motor and a complete stainless steel construction but is otherwise similar to the InSinkErator Evolution Cover Control Plus in terms of noise level, build, and warranty.
The lid gets stuck and is difficult to start. I keep the cover and the drain clean but it still is difficult to turn on. Also, I have arthritis in my hands and trying to operate this is extremely difficult. It should drop in and with a slight turn, commence to grind. Then, once I finally get it to start, the cover gets stuck and can’t be removed. I have to turn it off at the switch.
